Teens and families
Consent and privacy for teens
Who agrees to care
A parent or guardian takes part in the first call. Your clinician explains Massachusetts rules on consent for a teen, and what they mean for your family, before the first session.
What stays private
What your teen says in a one-to-one session is private. We explain the limits on the first call, such as a risk of serious harm, and what the law asks of us.
What parents hear
You stay informed about the plan, about safety and about what is asked of you at home. Your clinician tells your teen what will be shared before it is shared.
Records
We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. With your written permission we also share with your teen's pediatrician or a program we refer you to.
